2. We make a difference.

As a community college, we serve a wide range of students from broad socio-economic backgrounds. Our "rising scholars" include Veterans, first generation college students, low-income and other under-represented groups. We empower students to transform the quality of their lives by helping them learn the necessary skills to qualify for high-wage, high-demand careers in software development.

3. Student Scrum teams build real software.

Many of our classes are project-based, culminating in a 6-month capstone experience. From the start, students work in Scrum teams to build real software for real clients. Students work in two-week sprint cycles, with an emphasis on delivering value every sprint.

4. Our programs are thriving.

Our Software Development Bachelor's Degree program is only two years old, and it's already full through fall 2018! We have two starts... a fall day program on the main campus, and a winter evening/hybrid program at our Kent Station campus.

5. We maintain small class sizes.

Our class cap is 24 students, allowing for great interaction, discussions, and hands-on learning in the classroom. We follow a cohort model, so the students really get to know one another.

6. We nurture strong industry connections.

We work closely with industry to guide our programs and help us keep our curriculum up to date. We host the monthly Kent Web & Mobile Developers Meetup, where industry speakers are invited to give talks on various technical topics. We also work hard to bring industry professionals into the classroom to guest speak or offer feedback on student work.

7. We are committed to diversity.

Our Bachelor's program is made up of 33% women, and our target is 50%. We serve students who are returning from the workforce in need of retraining and students who are speakers of English as a second language, in addition to our more "traditional" students. We are in geographical region of growing diversity, which includes African American, Asian, Hispanic, Native American, Middle Eastern and other immigrant communities. We work hard to help all of our students succeed.
